A Brooklyn judge has tossed a lawsuit alleging New York City’s health department violated anti-vaxxer parents’ civil rights by mandating vaccinations in the wake of a massive measles outbreak. The suit was filed on Monday, and was dimissed by Thursday. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle reports that Kings County Supreme Court judge Lawrence Knipel ruled the suit—which cited debunked claims about the dangers of the MMR vaccine in order to get the city’s emergency order lifted, and argued that the current 359-person outbreak does not pose “a clear and present danger” to city residents—offered an “unsupported, bald faced opinion” and would not “be credited by this court.”

Actor Clayton Prince Tanksley sued in 2016, claiming that “Empire” was substantially similar to a television show he had pitched at a competition in 2008.

After 10 Years of Fighting for Funded Schools, Gannon Takes a Look Back

It was a quiet Sunday morning in 2011 when Jeff Gannon got a warning he’d never forget. A year earlier, he and his family agreed to put their name to one of the most divisive lawsuits in Kansas history. They had gotten a fair share of negative feedback, but nothing like the man who approached him after church. “He said, ‘Do you have any idea what they can do to you? You are coming up against a system that is incredibly large and powerful,’ ” Gannon said. “He said, ‘Are you prepared for the trouble that could come your way?’” It was odd, and a bit disquieting, but even after the nameless man left, Gannon wasn’t shaken.
