Federal Judge Throws Out Privacy Lawsuit Against Facebook

US District Judge Edward Davila on Tuesday dismissed without leave to amend a class-action lawsuit alleging that Facebook collects personal information about users who connected with Facebook through embedded buttons on cancer organizations’ websites. Davila focused on jurisdictional issues and noted that the lead plaintiff had consented to Facebook’s tracking practices upon registering for a Facebook account.
