BFFs No More: Kanye West Splits With JAY-Z’s Tidal, Lawsuit Could Be on the Horizon

It’s been rumored that JAY-Z and Kanye West’s friendship is no longer as strong as it used to be, with signs pointing to a major rift between the two.

Now, adding fuel to the fire, TMZ reports that West is leaving Tidal over a $3 million dispute.

Sources tell the site that West’s lawyer sent a letter to Tidal about a month ago, stating that the company was in breach and that West’s contract would be terminated.

Lawyers on both sides have tried to reach an agreement over the last few weeks, but to no avail.

West’s decision to leave allegedly predates the now well-known lyrics from Jay’s recent album, 4:44, in which he raps, “But this ‘f–k everybody’ attitude ain’t natural / But you ain’t a Saint, this ain’t KumbaYe / But you got hurt because you did cool by ‘Ye / You gave him 20 million without blinkin’ / He gave you 20 minutes on stage, f–k was he thinkin’?”

It’s rumored that the lyrics are aimed at West, who last year ranted on stage about his relationship with Beyoncé and JAY-Z.

West’s beef with Tidal allegedly stems from the fact that The Life of Pablo resulted in 1.5 million new subscribers for the streaming serivce, for which ‘Ye was supposed to get a bonus. On top of that, the “Famous” rapper says the company owes him for music videos, which Tidal says West never delivered.

Tidal has reportedly sent a letter to West explaining that he’s still under an exclusive contract and any attempts to go to another streaming service may result in a lawsuit. West is allegedly willing to walk away, but if Tidal sues, then he’ll sue right back.

We hope the former friends can work out their issues before things escalate, but it’s clear that any hope of the two reconciling may currently be out of the question.
