Brooklyn rapper Bobby Shmurda is taking the NYPD itself to court for false arrest charges, which he says have caused him “permanent” mental anguish.

Rapper Bobby Shmurda, 21, has filed a lawsuit against the New York City Police Department over what he’s alleging are false gun and drug charges from a June 3, 2014 arrest. Bobby appeared in court on April 29 to testify about these claims, and to plead that he be released from jail after spending over a year behind bars!

This is too bizarre a story! The “Hot N***a” and “Bobby Bitch” rapper claims he was hanging out at his friend’s place in Rockaway Beach that day, when cops simply busted through the door without a search warrant. “When one of the occupants opened the door a slight bit to see who was there, Officer Douglas Corso and other police officers kicked in the door and illegally entered the residence without a search warrant,” according to the lawsuit filed in Brooklyn Federal Court on April 29, Bobby’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, confirmed to Billboard.

While cops claimed that Bobby hid a handgun under the couch, he’s saying it isn’t true; police were allegedly ransacking his apartment, mocking him while “chanting the lyrics to his chart-topping songs,” before they found gun and drug paraphernalia.

Bobby is still in custody over the crimes, and he said that the allegedly false arrest has given him permanent “nervous shock and mental anguish.” Bobby is currently facing weapons possessions charges from a separate criminal case, and is being held on a $2 million bail. His newest trial date is scheduled for May 11, 2016.
