The management of treble Olympic champion Usain Bolt has warned of possible legal action against persons and entities that are engaging in the unauthorized used of his trademarks.
“It has come to our attention that in violation of Usain Bolt’s intellectual property rights, persons are using his trademarks and image in the advertising of their products and services and otherwise in the course of trade, without authorization,” UB Management, the entity which represents the superstar said.
Bolt’s management team said that the hijacking of his trademark is resulting in “loss and damage” to his reputation and business.
“To avoid legal action all unauthorized persons are required to cease such activities immediately,” UB Management said.
Bolt is the owner of a number of trademarks incorporating his name, nickname, signature, image and likeness as well as the ‘to the world’ pose.
