Class Action Filed Against AMP for Alleged Overcharged Super Fees

There’s no let-up in the legal assault on financial services giant AMP as it confronts the fallout from last year’s banking royal commission.

A class action lawsuit is being filed in the Federal Court today on behalf of AMP superannuation account holders, seeking compensation for alleged unreasonable admin fees in the “fees for no service” scandal.

Last week five class actions against AMP were consolidated into one lawsuit, representing shareholders.

Law firm Maurice Blackburn estimates today’s class action could cover as many as 2.5 million superannuation accounts.

Editor’s Note: In a statement, AMP said it hadn’t been served with any proceedings. AMP says it understands the potential action relates to AMP superannuation trustees and AMP meeting its obligations to members and on this basis, it would defend the matter vigorously if it was served.
