A Dallas police officer has filed a class action lawsuit against several people associated or perceived to be associated with the Black Lives Matter movement for speaking out against police brutality and allegedly enflaming anti-police sentiment.

Sgt. Demetrick Pennie, a 17-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department and the president of the Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation, filed the lawsuit in federal court on Sept. 16 on behalf of “police officers and other law enforcement persons of all races and ethnicities including but not limited to Jews, Christians and Caucasians” for “inciting” race riots and violence against police officers, reported Breitbart.

Pennie, who is black, seeks monetary compensation for the violence he alleges was caused by Black Lives Matter, as well as a “cease and desist” demand to halt speech that criticizes police.

Pennie named several individuals associated with the Black Lives Matter movement, including Rashad Turner, Opal Tometi, Patrice Cullors, Alicia Garza and Deray McKesson, among others.

But Pennie also named several individuals who are not directly associated with the movement, including the Rev. Al Sharpton, Nation of Islam, New Black Panthers and billionaire George Soros.

Soros is rumored to have donated $33 million to the Black Lives Matter movement, reported conservative newspaper The Washington Times. That report has been disputed by other sources, including The Daily Beast. But some Black Lives Matter associates have worked for Soros-funded organizations in the past, including the Open Society Foundation.

Pennie’s lawsuit is being handled by Larry Klyman, the founder of Judicial Watch, the conservative legal group that has successfully sued for the release of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s emails during her time as secretary of state.

“Sergeant Pennie and I feel duty-bound to put ourselves forward to seek an end to the incitement of violence against law enforcement which has already resulted in the death of five police officers in Dallas and the wounding of seven more, just in Texas alone,” Klyman said in a press release announcing the lawsuit.

On July 8, Micah Johnson, a former soldier who served in Afghanistan, gunned down five police officers in downtown Dallas before police killed him using a bomb-carrying robot.

During the standoff with Dallas police, Dallas police chief David Brown said Johnson told police “he was upset about Black Lives Matter,” reported the New York Times. “He said he was upset about the recent police shootings. The suspect said he was upset at white people. The suspect stated he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers.”
