Lawyers in Houston are representing consumers in the Midwest who have sued Mylan, the pharmaceutical company, for “deliberate and reprehensible price gouging” of its EpiPen.W. Mark Lanier of Houston is representing two consumers, one from Missouri and the other from Oklahoma, who are seeking class action status to represent other users of the injectable pen that delivers epinephrine to treat severe allergic reactions. The lawsuit, filed last week in federal court in Kansas, alleges that Mylan boosted the price of the injector, which costs less than $30 to make, from $57 in 2007 to more than $600 today.
Similar class action cases have also filed around the country against Mylan.
Mylan could not be immediately reached for comment.
