More People Join Class Action Lawsuit Against City of Amarillo

More people join a class action lawsuit against the City of Amarillo.

Four new plaintiffs were added to the suit earlier this month.

The lawsuit alleges the city unconstitutionally jails people who can’t afford to pay class “c” misdemeanors.

They allege the city’s current municipal code of ordinances doesn’t allow for people to be considered at or below poverty level or have an alternative punishments such as community service.

The original complaint was filed back in January.

Their attorney Jeff Blackburn is seeking unspecified damages.
