New Lawsuit Claims Fyre Festival Was Fraud From the Start

Organizers of the failed Fyre Festival have been hit with another lawsuit — this time from an investor who claims the fiasco was a massive fraud from the start.

Oleg Itkin of Manhattan says he handed over $700,000 from January to April after organizer William McFarland showed him a “projected income statement” showing $932 million in expected revenue by November 2017, according to court papers.

McFarland based the projections on expected proceeds from the fest on the Bahamas’ Great Exuma island and a new performer-booking app, the suit says.

He also had a balance sheet showing $31 million in assets in January 2017, according to the suit, which included a copy of the statement.

One of the biggest assets — $8.4 million organizers claimed had been given to them by the Bahamian government to promote the island — likely doesn’t exist, the suit alleges.

McFarland also allegedly boasted $4.2 million in advance bookings from such top acts as Drake and Kendrick Lamar, who were never even advertised for the April festival.

Itkin is suing for his money back plus $250,000 in fees.

Reps for the festival and McFarland did not return calls for comment.

Itkin’s claim is at least the eighth suit against the festival organizers, including rapper Ja Rule.
