Nude Video Accident Prompts Lawsuit

The video was reportedly posted via Instagram's new Live feature.
The former executive director of the Webster Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau who was fired after accidentally posting a nude video on the bureau’s Instagram account has filed suit to get her job back.Lynn Dorsey, 61, was fired in a 3-2 vote by the bureau’s board on Feb. 13. She had been placed on administrative leave Jan. 2 after she mistakenly streamed a live video on the bureau’s Instagram account in December.

The video was of Dorsey and contained nudity. At the time of the incident, she said the video was intended for her husband.

Dorsey’s lawsuit alleges that the meeting in which the board voted to terminate her employment “failed to comply with the requirements of the Louisiana Open Meetings Law.” She filed the lawsuit in Webster Parish District Court.

Board Chairman Jerry Madden and the CVB are named as defendants.

“Defendants circumvented the Open Meetings Law when they went beyond the notice and published agenda for the ‘special executive meeting,’” the lawsuit claims. “The agenda contained no item other than the executive session. The published agenda contained no indication that any action would be taken following the executive session, nor did the Commission avail itself of the procedure to add an item to the agenda.”

The lawsuit also questions the legitimacy of a board member who had been appointed shortly before the vote to terminate Dorsey took place.

Dorsey asks that the court void all actions taken during the Feb. 13 meeting and that she be reinstated to her position of executive director at the CVB.A hearing originally scheduled for April 25 has been continued to a later date.

“The attorneys will participate in a telephone conference with the judge to reset the hearing for a new date,” said Lydia Rhodes, Dorsey’s attorney. “Matters such as this, a suit alleging Open Meetings violations, should move quickly through the court system. But, it is impossible to predict without a hearing date.”

When contacted by email, an employee with the CVB referred The Times to Madden. Madden did not return a phone message requesting comment.
