CHICAGO (CBS) — A Chicago Police officer is suing eight of his fellow officers in federal court, accusing them of disrespect, misconduct, and not backing him up.
It all started with a photograph, according to the lawsuit filed by Chicago Police Officer Cornelius Davis.
A photo he said was passed around by several other officers. A photo of a naked trans woman, and that the other officers said she was Davis’s wife, when in reality she was not. WBBM’s Steve Miller reports.
Davis’s attorney Blake Horwitz said Davis reported the incident to Police Internal Affairs.
“He immediately received the cold shoulder from his fellow officers,” Horwitz said. “They immediately started treating him differently – as an officer that apparently doesn’t respect the code of silence that is done among officers.”
Horwitz said the other officers have failed to show up at crime scenes to back up Officer Davis.
And last month, Horwitz said, one of the officers Davis is suing struck Davis.
The lawsuit asks for damages.
