R. Kelly Facing $500K Fraud Lawsuit for Failed Concerts

Lawsuit definition highlighted

R. Kelly has reportedly found himself at the center of a legal battle after being sued for $500k plus punitive damages, by Swervo Entertainment Group for failed concerts.

As reported in an exclusive from The Jasmine Brand (TJB), the “Ignition” singer was paid a $500K advance from Swervo Entertainment Group, who were in negotiations with the singer to produce and promote a series of concerts starring the R&B singer. Reportedly, Kellz was in the negotiation process with the promoter who had agreed to pay him per completed concert, in addition to sending a wire transfer of the advance monies to his trust account, per the instruction of Linda Mensh, Kelly’s lawyer.

Swervo believes that R. Kelly did in fact receive the advance money, according to EUR, but ultimately the business agreement fell through, as they were unable to reach an official agreement on the concert series details.

Now, Swervo wants their money back, plus punitive damages “for the harm that has been done to them,” according to TJB, but Kelly is refusing to pay up. The lawsuit includes Kelly, his company RSK Enterprises, and his lawyer Mensh.

Kelly is currently on tour to promote his 2015 album The Buffet according to Indystar but, some of those date have been postponed due to “production issues.”

Though his upcoming show at Bankers LIfe Fieldhouse in Indianapolis has been postponed from May 5 to Sept. 8 according to Indystar, the “Trapped in the Closet” singer has confirmed other upcoming tour dates via his Instagram.
