Low-Carb Diet Company Under Fire for Fudging Nutrition Data

Atkins Nutritionals Inc. fudges its nutrition data when it comes to “net carbs,” a new lawsuit alleges. The Colorado-based carb-counting company touts its products as low-carb by “artificially subtracting” sugar alcohols from the definition of carbohydrates, the Brooklyn federal-court case alleges. Dr. Robert Atkins, who died in 2003, was a major proponent of the low-carb diet.
