Casselton Derailment Lawsuit Moved to Federal Court

Engineer Bryan Thompson had initially sued BNSF Railway for neglecting safety measures, but added Standard Steel later. Thompson was injured in the derailment, according to court documents. He alleges that a Standard Steel-made axle “failed suddenly and catastrophically,” causing the derailment, a complaint initially filed in Cass County District Court alleges.


One Year After Maryville Train Derailment, Lawsuits Keep Moving Forward

Friday marks one year since a train carrying a flammable liquid derailed in Blount County, catching fire and forcing thousands of people to leave their homes. After the derailment and evacuations, lawsuits started to be filed, some on behalf of residents and first responders. There are two lawsuits in federal court.
