Delta Flight Attendants Claim Uniforms Causing Headaches and Rashes in Lawsuit

Two Delta Air Lines flight attendants are alleging that wearing their uniforms causes skin rashes, headaches, fatigue and other issues in a proposed class-action lawsuit filed Wednesday. The “Passport Plum” uniforms were made by Lands’ End, a global fashion retailer, and issued to 64,000 employees in May 2018, according to the lawsuit. Land’s End is named as a defendant in the lawsuit; Delta is not. The suit seeks more than $5 million in damages and was filed in U.S. District Court in the Southern District of New York by flight attendants Gwyneth Gilbert and Monica DeCrescentis. Gilbert lives in Sandy Springs, Georgia, and alleges in the lawsuit that she experienced rashes and skin irritations from wearing the uniforms, which consisted of two dresses, a pantsuit, and a sweater set.



Class-Action Lawsuit Filed Against Owner of TurboTax

A class-action lawsuit was filed Sunday against TurboTax owner Intuit, alleging that the company breached an agreement with the IRS by diverting taxpayers away from its free-filing program.“ The victims of this scheme were intentionally misled and deprived of the opportunity to make an informed decision about their tax-filing service,” Eric Gibbs of Gibbs Law Group LLP, one of the lawyers representing the plaintiffs, said in a statement. The law firms that filed the complaint said their case is the first nationwide class-action suit filed against Intuit over the free-filing issue.

New York City’s Department of Consumer and Worker Protection has filed a lawsuit against a number of immigration legal aid providers for “allegedly using a multi-part scheme to deceive immigrants.” DCWP accused Angel G. Buitron of Buitron Offices & Associates of posing as a renowned lawyer with an expertise in complex immigration cases despite not having a license to practice law anywhere. Buitron allegedly charged immigrants up to $30,000 for legal help and then had Susana T. Abarca, of the Law Office of Susana Abarca, PLLC, appear in immigration court for him, often without the immigrant client’s knowledge.
