The City of Honolulu Pays Lesbian Couple $80,000 to Settle Lawsuit After Wrongfully Arresting Them for Kissing

The city of Honolulu has decided to pay a lesbian couple $80,000 (Around £55,000) to settle a lawsuit after the pair were wrongfully arrested by a police officer for kissing.

A police officer spotted the Courtney Wilson and Taylor Guerrero kissing while shopping at a Foodland store in Oahu during their holiday. According to the lawsuit, the police officer allegedly told them to “stop it” and to “take it elsewhere”.

Guerrero said that they were holding hands, had hugged and kissed each other.

Then while the pair were paying for their food the officer, Bobby Harrison, approached them and grabbed Wilson’s wrist.

When she tried calling 911 the three of them got into a fight.

Harrison charged them with assaulting an officer and they were spent three days in jail before the charges were dismissed.

Department spokeswoman Michelle Yu spoke to the Associated Press and said, “The internal investigation was completed, and the allegations were not sustained.”

She revealed that Harrison was not charged and had retired before the investigation had ended.

Sadly the pair are no longer a couple. Wilson travelled back to Los Angeles while Guerrero decided to stay in Honolulu.

Speaking to the Associated Press, Wilson said: “I’m glad it’s over, but at the same time we wanted the officer to suffer some sort of repercussion.”
