Kendall and Kylie aren’t out of hot water just yet.
As previously reported, the reality stars came under fire this week, after releasing a new line of T-shirts featuring photos of major cultural icons such as Biggie, Tupac, Jim Morrison of The Doors, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Pink Floyd, and Ozzy Osbourne, among others.
While the tees were quickly pulled from production and an apology issued, the families of those they featured have begun to lawyer up.
“These designs were not well thought out and we deeply apologize to anyone that has been upset and/or offended, especially to the families of the artists. We are huge fans of their music and it was not our intention to disrespect these cultural icons in anyway [sic]. The tee shirts have been pulled from retail and all images have been removed. We will use this as an opportunity to learn from these mistakes and again, we are very sorry,” Kendall said in a statement, admitting that it may have been a smart idea to reach out to the musician’s estate or family member before cementing them as part of the Kendall + Kylie clothing line.
Biggie Smalls estate was among the first to respond, by issuing a cease and desist letter.
“I am not sure who told @kyliejenner and @kendalljenner that they had the right to do this. The disrespect of these girls to not even reach out to me or anyone connected to the estate baffles me. I have no idea why they feel they can exploit the deaths of 2pac and my Son Christopher to sell a t-shirt. This is disrespectful, disgusting, and exploitation at its worst!!!” wrote Voletta Wallace, mother of the late B.I.G., via Instagram.
Now, it appears that the legendary rock band The Doors has decided to move forward with a suit. Sources confirm to TMZ, that the damage has already been done and they are nowhere near satisfied with an apology. Of course, now that rockers have opted to fire back, we anticipate that others will follow.
